To the person who left a message and a phone number which is not active re data protection and the concerns of the manager of ngpltd:  please leave a valid phone number.  The same person as far as I can tell has attempted to contact the host site to remove this website.  If you have a problem LEAVE A VALID PHONE NUMBER or EMAIL me.  Please make sure when you do so that you clearly express what you believe is exactly contravening UK law and I will attempt to remove any part of this site that does so.    Thank you.

To 'i been clamped' - Thank you for your comments but it was necessary to remove them for the reason set out in the update above.  Let us know how you get on, but please bear the above in mind if/when doing so.

I first went to West bute street 2 years ago and although a little unsightly ( because of the building works ) was a great credit to all of you, just re visited and unfortunately a couple of shops have closed down and the building works have stopped making it even more difficult for you! I'm sure when they are finised it will give your street a lift but at the moment it's just an eyesore!!! Are they still going to finish the buiding works? and give you guys a chance, keep up the great work

I've been issued with a parking ticket last night for not displaying my parking permit, bullshit, I always keep my parking permit on my dashboard, and was there in plain view when i took the sticker off my windscreen. NPG are a disgrace, like fuck am I paying the fine.

My daughter had her car removed from Century Wharf, Cardiff Bay on Sunday last, by NGP.
I had to pay up front (on her behalf) £1,035.00 to have the car released.
They maintained that numerous tickets were issued to her and ignored - she had only the one and was NOT contacted via post to pay the fine.
This is a totally outrageous situation but there was nothing I could do but pay the money, otherwise they keep the car.

Lynette Leek, Anon, Paulos, j.manters, CJ and any other people who have been clamped, as well as Jacob, might find the message directly below regarding Trading Standards helpful.

JACOB: Assuming you enquired on Bute CRESCENT (not Bute Street) perhaps this will help. Have just received an email from someone who spoke to the Highways Department. As best as he can remember what he was told was: "The road is adopted and maintained by the Council". When the issue of clampers was raised, the advice was that it sounded illegal and that it might be useful to CONTACT TRADING STANDARDS. CLICK HERE to access the the Cardiff Trading Standards website.

Clamping Bute
Crescent
I was clamped on 14th Feb. Found out from CCC that Bute street is public highway. Even got maps from them to prove it and the company still refuses to pay my money back. Let me know if any one want to take legal action and might be able to join forces.

Have spoken with Bellway Homes their customer care lady could not get off the phone quicker. She was not interested. Spoke with Cardiff Council no one is interested. They wanted access for the lorries and so they made it private and employed a clamping firm. The clamping firm will not even talk with you on the phone would be interested if anyone got a reply when they wrote.

Paulo, a lot of people have been clamped in that same place. if you go to the page --NGP CLAMPING ALERT --there are links near the top where you can email various MPs, the RAC and sign a petition to the government. Its by doing these things that people can all help to change the clamping rules.

I was clamped recently at around midnight in Bute Crescent. I did not see the signs on the construction site and even as they were pointed out to me, I could only read 'Warning Private Property' from my car which would emply that the construction site is indeed private property, not that section of road. I was on the other side of the road and not blocking any entrances. Obviously I had to pay as the clampers were threatening to tow unless I did there and then. Has anyone had a similar experience and has anyone else appealed against their fine?

Thank you Anon for all the valuable info, which is very much appreciated. I'll be updating again later on today, probably this evening, and will include the further contacts in your your comment. Thanks again.

Have also spoken with South Wales Echo who have also had a number of calls about the Bute Crescent situation. They are contacting Cardif City Coucil with regards to the width of the road and how the increase in volume of traffic from the visitors, service providers, delivery vehicles to the 88 Quayside apartments a only accerbate an already busy little road. Everything relys on no one ever parking illegally once the development is finished and the Council readopted the short section along the side of Bellways hoardings. Also the Council Planning dept admit that the signs for NGP which state no parking on this site are ambigious in their wording as it was (until six weks ago) classed as public highway and no sign indicates it is a private road. Hope this can help you another contact you might want to make is Alan Grove on 029 2087 1669 he is the man who dealt with the planning aplcation from Bellway Homes. Also contact Alun Michael at the Welsh Assembly to see he can find out why they have a narrower road for more traffic in the future.

Anon - thank you for the information. I will update the 'NGP Clamping Alert' page sometime this afternoon to include The Ferret contact.

The TV program The Ferret are hoping to be investigating the situation in Cardiff Bay where public land is being "changed" into private and sold or used for private gain and they are also going to investigate the increased use of private clamping companies. If you have any comments please contact The Ferret on 029 2059 0000 and tell them your story. Also are you aware that Bute Crescent's new part is currently a private road (owned by Bellway Homes) leading to a public highway, hence their ability to use a clamping company but also have you realised that if the road has congestion problems now what will it be like with 88 more residents living in Bute Cres. Did CCC Planning not think to widen the road when they were allowing Bellway Homes to redirect it??? Bellway, Highways and Planning Dept all are questionable in their actions.

Not surprised people are avoiding the Bute Crescent area - BELLWAY HOMES are controlling the parking via NGP CLAMPING COMPANY. Since when could CARDIFF CITY COUNCIL allow access to a public road be controlled by two private companies. I definitely wil not be eating in the bay restaurants again when they are clamping vehicles at 9.0 pm at night when there is no site access required.

Viv, flower shop will not be reopening as far as we know, cafes there open early morning before business hours, and finish early due to few customers once the shops in busier areas are open (the expense of keeping electrical cooking equipment on for perhaps one customer is not viable, perhaps if more customers used the cafes they would be able to remain open for longer) and you're right about the lack of atmosphere, empty streets usually are, most streets need people around to make an atmosphere
